St Thomas Hospital in London asked us to create a replica of an MRI scanner in their Paediatric wing. They wanted a 2m x 2m inflatable version so that they could give young children the chance to have a “trial run” so that they would not be so scared getting into the real thing. This was a technical challenge – not only did it have to take a weight of up to 30kgs but the entrance hole was tapered front to back, with an inbuilt flat platform where the patient’s “tray” would slide in.
